According to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, welterweights Mike Pierce and Aaron Simpson will meet at UFC on FX 5 in October.
At UFC on FX 3, Pierce picked up a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Eduardo Rocha. Pierce won four of his first five UFC fights, but is just 2-2 in his last four, with close split decision losses to Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks. He is 14-5 overall and 6-3 inside the Octagon.
Simpson, a former middleweight, dropped to welterweight for the first time at UFC on FUEL 4, defeating Kenny Robertson by unanimous decision. Simpson had a successful campaign at middleweight winning six of nine UFC fights, but after a split decision loss to Ronny Markes, he decided he was too small for the weight class.
UFC on FX 5 takes place October 5th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
